Happy Father's Day 2014!

Today we celebrate Father's Day and recognise all those Dad's who are currently watching their baby in NICU or SCN, those Dad's who only have memories of their baby, those Dad's who provide and care for their families, those Dad's who get up early for their children's sport, those Dad's that get a phone call from their 'big babies' who have grown up. Happy Father's Day!!!

A small gift will be waiting for Dad's at NICU's and SCN's at King Edward Memorial Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital 6B, St John of God Subiaco and Rockingham Hospital. We hope that this gift lets them know that we and all of our community are thinking of them in what is an extremely difficult time.

Workshop - An Introduction to Telethon Speech & Hearing

Many babies born too soon or sick at birth can go on to have speech and language issues.  We are delighted to present a workshop on this topic which affects so many in our community.

Both Janene Hall, Deputy Principal and Michelle Jamieson, Family Liaison/Enrolment Officer will be attending from Telethon Speech & Hearing to present the workshop.

The Talkabout Program at Telethon Speech & Hearing Centre is a program that supports children who have language delay or disability.  Programs include Playgroup for 2 and 3 year olds, and a full day specialised classes for kindy and pre primary children.  We will be discussing speech and language milestones, some top tips to support your child's speech and language development, and some indicators of concern.  We will also outline some of the avenues available for support, including the highly specialised programs on offer at Telethon Speech & Hearing.

The workshop will be help in Subiaco on Wednesday the 17th of September at 7pm.  It is open to all families affected by high-risk pregnancy, premature birth or having a sick newborn.  To register for this workshop please visit the registration page.
